    Student Coordinators     Top Of Page

Since our main focus is helping students with educational problems find effective teachers to help them understand and master a course, we put a lot of effort into reaching parents who need help for their children. While we're gratified by how many students come from yellow page ads, newspaper ads and the internet, we know we're reaching only a fraction of those who need assistance.

The reason for this is simple. For an ad to work, parents must successfully overcome four hurdles:

  • 1) They must realize their children need outside help.
  • 2) They must decide to seek a private tutor.
  • 3) They must know which yellow page directories and newspapers have tutoring or lesson or instruction categories.
  • 4) They must spend some time and effort searching the category to find a suitable tutor.
  • It sounds easy . . . but it really isn't and many parents don't really know how to overcome all four hurdles. What such parents need are ads which find them, rather than ads which they must find.

This is where our flyer distributors come in. Our flyer distributors post flyers inside EVERY store WITHOUT EXCEPTION. This means they visit and post a flyer (with the owners permission) in every meat market, bakery, grocery store, video store, supermarket, fruit and vegetable store, pizza shop, restaurant, laundromat, bodega, beauty parlor, barber shop, dry cleaner, bank, hardware store, boutique, day care center, shoe store, doctors office, clothing store, etc., etc. in the area.

How does this help? Simple! All people shop for food, clothing and other necessities. If a flyer is posted in each store they visit, they'll sooner or later notice it and say to themselves: Hey! . . . Tutoring? . . . Say, my kid could use some tutoring. I'll take down the number and give them a call. So, our flyers find parents as they go about their daily tasks and not at all thinking about tutoring.

This is not theory; it really works. We've been posting flyers for over forty years and we've never once been disappointed. So, if this sounds interesting to you, you might like to work as one of our Student Coordinators.

Student Coordinators are people who do the following three tasks:

  • 1) Post flyers advertising our tutoring service in neighborhood stores throughout the city.
  • 2) Take calls from people seeking academic help from one of our tutors.
  • 3) Simplify and facilitate the process of hiring a tutor to help overcome educational problems.
  • With regard to task 1, we need a person who’s healthy, articulate, well-spoken, intelligent, reliable, mature, fit and presentable to post flyers advertising our tutoring service in neighborhood stores throughout their home region. These 8.5”x11” flyers are to be posted from 9:00AM to 6:00PM Monday to Saturday during February-March and September-October each year. You can see copies of the flyers we use on our Link To Us (http://www.a1cts.com/link_to_us.html) web page.

With regard to tasks 2 and 3, the same person would spend one to five hours a day on the phone handling tutoring inquiries and helping people seeking lessons. This would be done at home from September 1 to June 30.

We’re looking for Student Coordinators in each of the following 22 regions: North Brooklyn, South Brooklyn, East Manhattan, West Manhattan, Northeast Queens,  Northwest Queens,  South Queens, Staten Island, East Bronx, West Bronx, North Nassau, South Nassau, East Suffolk, West Suffolk, Lower Westchester, Upper Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Ulster and Sullivan. We plan to employ a total of 22 Student Coordinators, one for each region.

We’ll give top priority to mature candidates who drive, are retired, can perform all three tasks and intend to work with us for several years. However, if we’re unable to find a suitable single candidate in a particular location, we may consider splitting up the job and hiring two people (i.e., a Flyer Distributor and a Lesson Sign-Up Specialist) instead of one to do the three tasks done by a Student Coordinator.

If you'd like to become the Student Coordinator for your home region, just fill out the application at Certified Tutoring Service -- Other Employment and click the SEND button at the bottom when finished. A Form Confirmation Letter will appear within a few seconds to indicate successful transmission. We'll call you within a few days to speak with you and determine whether or not we have a job for you. If you wish to speak with us about this position, call us at (888) 321-1023.
